Mediavision Academy was represented by the Director, Mr Nkambo Robert and the Director of Studies, Aloyo Annet in the #absa #7HillsRun which happened on Sunday, 28th May 2023.  Nkambo Robert, Director Aloyo annet, Director of Studies This run was purposely organised to keep the vulnerable girl child in school. Thousands of people participated and of which Mediavision Academy also chose to be part of this wonderful cause since one of our visions is to empower the youth most especially the girl child. A view of the people who participated in the #absa #7HillsRun Mediavision Academy has managed to make a number of documentaries about the girl child on how to keep them in school.  It is the 10th anniversary of the Uganda Film Festival which is an important milestone 10 years of awarding and recognizing all filmmakers in the film industry. This is an important milestone for the women as they also contribute to the growth of the industry because since 2o13-2023 we look at some of the female filmmakers who have done a tremendous job until the celebration of the 10th anniversary. Monica Anyede, a mother of 3 children, is a resident of Tiira in Busia District, Eastern Region of Uganda.  The wild story of gold and the district outback from a woman defying male conventions in pursuit of the mother lode.  Mediavision Academy has deployed its multimedia team in Tiira, a city located about 168 km east of Kampala, the country’s capital town, to capture the inspiring story of a married wife who has chosen to risk her life and health by digging gold. Commissioned by the African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), the documentary project follows Monica, an artisanal minor, who has chosen to risk her life as the mining industry has a reputation for being a risky business, with health risks that are varied and often quite serious.   “It is important for miners to protect themselves accordingly” acknowledges Monica.   “Holding and using a digital camera was a great experience of my life” declared Kumbonyaki Christo, a film production art student in his first semester at Mediavision Academy.   Students have to undertake, as a requirement, a one-year internship in the field, during which they are regularly monitored and assessed. Christo, 22, is from South Sudan.   He attended Uganda Martyrs High School in Lubaga, Kampala where he acquired an Advanced Certificate in Education.   Inspired by his own brother who is in the field of multimedia and information technology, Christo joined Mediavision Academy in August 2022 after a long Google search of best film schools in Uganda.      The Republic of South Sudan became the world’s newest nation and Africa’s 55th country on July 9, 2011.   “The Mystery and Wonder of Flowers” – A Story by a Film Production Art Student   https://youtu.be/cje6Shwh3H0 “It is just unimaginable how a flower can play a part in curing a boy, Gavin in his 20’s, from a serious body dysmorphic disorder,” has revealed Laisa Gloria, a student in Film Production Art at Mediavision Academy that offers training programs preparing students for a variety of career paths in the film production industry. Gloria has written a short silent film titled “The Flower” depicting how a flower saved Gavin’s life and how critically important it [the flower] was in helping him with his battle with dysmorphic disorder.  “I got the idea after witnessing the surprise healing of the 20-year-old boy from an allergic disease,” she said.  “A flower can do wonders and save lives.”

For many years, the Filmmakers have and are still hunting all possible means to embrace unity, and work on policies that govern their work in the film sector. Never the less, these young and old men and women have not abandoned this until now. Although some have given up, the thirst and hunger for unity is still reflected from a number of Film makers and surely, one day, the dream will come to pass. On Sunday 4 th December, Mediavision Academy supported the Launch of a new Film power house in Uganda. The power house is a joining of four (4) film studios into one entity called X GENERATION. The film studios include:  Zenj Studios,  TEEZ Studios,  Purple Hearts and  Giraffe Motion Pictures.  The event took place at Fizzy Restaurant in Makindye. When Aesekol James was searching for a film school to learn acting, he zeroed down to Mediavision Academy after looking at our curriculum and the project model. He then joined us for the ACTING course. But along the way, he picked interest in the film production class which he later joined and learned CAMERA WORK, FILM EDITING, SCREENWRITING, CINEMA STUDIES, FILM ANALYSIS and more. During his stay at Mediavision Academy he produced and directed two amazing short films. SECERTS and AIDA. What caught our eye is that both films have a female as the main character. His philosophical ideas perceive women as caretakers, life givers and should be respected, promoted, protected and supported. As a young man who has always loved acting, he has now picked interest in other technical aspects of film production, and has turned into a passionate actor, robust cinematographer, film editor and screenwriter.  As an actor he has consistently delivered more than expected.
