"THE POWER AND INFLUENCE OF THE UGANDAN FEMALE FILMMAKERS"

It is the 10th anniversary of the Uganda Film Festival which is an important milestone 10 years of awarding and recognizing all filmmakers in the film industry.

This is an important milestone for the women as they also contribute to the growth of the industry because since 2o13-2023 we look at some of the female filmmakers who have done a tremendous job until the celebration of the 10th anniversary. Therefore we would like to celebrate some the women who have emerged as leaders  by taking up the big roles of producers, directors among others to the film industry.

Some of these ladies include but not limited to; Nisha Kalema, Kevin Johns Nabukenya, Elenor Nabwiso, Mariam Ndagire, Doreen Mirembe, Pamela Kerekyo, Sarah Nsigaye, Rehema Nanfuka, Nana Kagga, Aloyo Annet

Mediavision Academy team with Director Doreen Mirembe

Yesterday, 25th May 2023 Mediavision Academy team watched the movie screening of movies one titled KAFA COH by Doreen Mirembe and the other THE FALLEN ADVOCATE by Kevin Johns Nabukenya

After watching those two movies, the discussion that sparked our minds was about the essential role Women play behind scenes as the Ugandan Film industry takes off.
Some of these roles include; Directors, Screenwriters, Producers, Editors, Camera operators, among others.

The question to ask ourselves is "Are there increased opportunities for female filmmakers because it is now 10 years down the road?"

The screening schedule is provided below can guide on the different locations with different dates.
