The 11th Edition of Uganda Film Festival: A Testament to the Growing Film Industry

The nomination list for the 12th edition of the prestigious Uganda Film Festival (UFF) has been released, and it's an exciting time for the film industry in Uganda. This year's edition features a diverse and talented group of newcomers, showcasing the growing interest and enthusiasm of young people in the movie industry.

The UFF, organized by the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC), has become a significant motivating factor for film lovers, filmmakers, funders, and content buyers. The festival has played a crucial role in improving the quality of movies in Uganda, as each contender strives to be recognized and ultimately win an award.

This year's edition boasts 25 categories of potential winners, including best regional film, best international film, best East African film, and best viewer's choice. The release of the nomination list has sparked excitement in the film fraternity, with congratulatory messages pouring in for those who have made the cut.

The UFF has not only brought together the film community but has also contributed to the growth and development of the industry. By showcasing the country's creative talents, the festival has helped to sell Uganda as a destination for film production. This has led to an increase in local film production, the exportation of Ugandan films, and the creation of household names in the industry.  The festival season is usually buzzing with numerous film activities including screenings, forum discussions and training workshops.  To strengthen the impact of training workshops Mediavision Academy has always partnered with the UCC.

As we draw closer to celebrating this year's edition of the UFF, we hope that the festival continues to expand and accommodate new talent. We also encourage the UCC to push for broadcast houses to air at least 70% local content, further promoting the growth of the Ugandan film industry.

To all those who have been nominated, we congratulate you and wish you the best of luck as the awarding day approaches. Your hard work and dedication to the craft have not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to celebrating your achievements at this year's Uganda Film Festival.

As the leading film school Uganda, Mediavision Academy illuminates the path of aspiring filmmakers by partnering with prestigious events like the Uganda Film Festival.
