THE ICT AND MULTIMEDIA TRAINING IN NEBBI DISTRICT OFFICIALLY OPENS BY THE RESIDENT DISTRICT COMMISSIONER

Abak Robert the Resident District Commissioner Nebbi district officially opens the ICT and Multimedia Skilling for Youth training on 9th April 2024 at Immaculate Hearts of Mary Nebbi Catholic Parish Church hall under the theme SKILLING YOUTH FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT.

Over 100 youths from different sub counties in Nebbi are participating in this training sponsored by Uganda Communications Commission partnering with Mediavision Academy a film and television training school in collaboration with Gretak Services Limited.

Abak in his address appreciates UCC with its partners for bringing the youth training and urges the youth to take such training seriously. He warns the youth to avoid any form of content that will lead to computer miss use but also be concerned about financial literacy so they should use this training to change their lives positively because proper phone usage generate more money and the training they have received is a blessing.

“Your phone can either promote you or crush you if not used well” said Abak

Okello Godfrey Anecho Vice Chairperson LCV, appreciates the facilitators and request them to add the number of beneficiaries, and also urged the youths not to involve in non-productive and time wasting things like pornography, gambling among others.

“100 is a blessings but there are many more interested individuals who are only limited by numbers “said Okello.

Rwothomio Savior Kakonda district Youth Chairperson Nebbi extended his gratitude to the trainers and impels the youth to value the training since they are the selected few out of the majority with smart phone to attend the training.

Patrick Y.P Owachgiu UCC regional officer Masindi notified that the training wasn’t new in the West Nile region, Nebbi is the second district after Pakwach district to receive the training.

“We are here to give a skills set and we are here to help you maximize the use of your gadgets so you can benefit from it” said Owachgiu.

Participants have testified on the training they have received for the previous days which have benefited them and have put in practice what they have learnt.

 “The training has helped me realize that they are so many opportunities i can create using my phone and earn big even at home” Kiconco testifies.

“It will help me to market products online and am going to teach my fellows the do's and don’ts of computer use” said Cwinyai Denis.

Uganda Communications Commission is working to improve the self-sustainability of youths through equipping them with ICT skills to enable them become competitive and improve on their livelihoods.
