MEDIAVISION ACADEMY SHINES AT THE PREMIERE OF LOVE FROM ANOTHER LAND

“If we maintain the relationships and collaborations it will foster the growth of the film industry but also we need to add on our skills. Skilling is the most important thing. For example Mediavision Academy you train filmmakers, if we could get like five Mediavisions in Uganda, you can imagine what the film industry could be! Filmmakers need to invest in the skill of film art.” Says Kevin.

Kevin Johns Nabukenya the director and producer of the film credited the efforts of Mediavision Academy at skilling Film makers during the film Premiere of “My love from another land” movie.

My love from another land, a romantic comedy, perfectly captured the essence of the day, blending humor and heart felt moments yesterday 14th February 2024 the Valentine’s Day at Acacia mall in Bukoto Kampala, where movie enthusiasts and Mediavision Academy team flocked to the red carpet however this time it was a black carpet event.

My love from another land is about Shegun American born but adopted by a Nigerian family, who comes to Uganda leaving his successful career to settle as a farmer. On reaching in Uganda, Shegun falls in love with a Ugandan Acholi girl Aber. This required him to learn the Acholi culture and their traditions.

As the lights dimmed and the film began, the audience was transported into the world of love, laughter and unforgettable moments. The premiere was not only a celebration of the film but also tribute to the power of love and cultural heritage.

“We have to learn about the cross cultural relationships and how to go about them, because here we have a Nigerian and an Acholi. So they had to learn how to maneuver challenges amidst their cultural dissimilarities” says Kevin.

Incorporating cultural heritage in film can serve several purposes, it can help preserve cultural practices and traditions that are at risk of being lost or forgotten. It fosters a sense of pride and identity among members of the community as they see their cultural heritage reflected on their screens.

Before the screening began, the director and the cast took the stage to express their gratitude and share insights into the making of the film. The audience was captured by their stories and the applause that followed was thunderous.

“They scared us on moving to Uganda that it’s hard to stay, but we said if others can make it there then we shall also make it” said Anu Coat the “Lead actress”

As the film unfolded, it was met with laughter and heartfelt sighs. The story of love with all its up and downs, resonated with everyone in the audience, reminding them of the beauty and complexity of relationships.

After the screening, there was a reception where guests shared their thoughts and favorite moments from the film. It was a night to remember, filled with love, laughter and the magic of cinema.
