MEDIAVISION ACADEMY ATTENDED THE FIRST EVER UCC NIGHT FILM SCREENING: KITARA CHRONICLES.
It was a night of Inspiration and Reflection yesterday at Century Cinema, Arena Mall Nsambya where Mediavision Academy, a leading film school in Uganda had the honor of attend a prestigious film screening titled “Kitara Chronicles” that left attendees inspired and reflective.

Kitara Chronicles directed by Yiga Sadat is about the era of the Batembuzi (demi gods), at the climax of King Bukuku's ruthless reign, Buule a young boy trying to rescue Nangonzi the love of her life who had been taken captive by king Bukuku helps Ndahura the last descent of Isaza grandson of Ruhanga to regain his rightful throne.
The evening began with a buzz of anticipation as filmmakers,
industry professionals, and film enthusiasts gathered to witness the screening
of Kitara Chronicles which one of the most compelling films of the year and won
the Best viewer’s choice award and best makeup at the Uganda Film Festival 2023.
One of the highlights of the screening was the diversity of Kitara
Chronicles that showcased creativity, dedication and unique cinematic art. From
thought-provoking narration that shed light on important cultural heritage issues
that touched the soul and each scene offered a unique perspective and left a lasting
impression on the audience.

The screening was organized by the Uganda Communications Commission,
giving a chance to the filmmakers that were nominated in the Uganda Film
Festival 2023 to showcase and appreciate their creative to the audience.

Ruth Kibuuka at the screening elaborated the contribution of the commission in
the film industry and assured to continue with this initiative “UCC Cinema
Night” not only on this film but many more.
“What UCC is doing entirely is to create a platform for the
filmmakers and content owners, as you see Kitara has filled this whole cinema
so they are the ones to benefit from the revenue that has been earned. UCC’s
role is just to promote and create a platform. So we expect filmmakers to
embrace and promote without putting in other issues” said Kibuuka.

After the screening, audience members had the opportunity to engage
with the filmmakers and gain insight into the creative process behind their
work. It was a rare and valuable opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to learn
from industry veterans and gain valuable insights into the art of filmmaking.
For Mediavision Academy, attending the prestigious film screening
was not just a night out, but a valuable learning experience that will inform
and inspire our student’s future work. As a film and Television training school
dedicated to excellence in film and media education, events like these are
essential for students to gain exposure to the latest trends and innovations in
the industry.

Kitara Chronicles screening was a night to remember for Mediavision
Academy and all who attended. It was a testament to the power of film to
educate, inspire, and unite people from all walks of life, and a reminder of
the importance of storytelling in our world today.
