– Kampala, 12 July
2023 – “MultiChoice Talent Factory has identified Mediavision Academy as
the center of excellence when it comes to training youth in Film, Television,
Video, Radio and Photography,” Mitchel Mwesiga, public relations and publicity
executive at MultiChoice Uganda, told the Academy community gathered in the
main hall of their campus located at Makindye Division in the capital city,
Kampala.
“Today, Michel
Mwesiga and his delegation have introduced students and alumni of the Academy to
the exciting MTF and its benefits,” said Tumanyane Andrew, director and
screenwriter at Faisha Pictures International, who attended the meeting and
watched a short video showcasing all the advantages and opportunities one can
get if meeting the necessary requirements.
Andrew is a former student, alumna, 2017-2019.

Over the last 8 years, the Academy became known in providing training to students, but mostly youths in the fields of Film, Television, Video, Radio and Photography. “We intend to keep that reputation by maintaining our startup culture” said its director, Robert Nkambo. “The academy currently offers eight course units per semester, which is the maximum course load. It Academy also runs full time and short time courses; students take at least six 90-minute weekly classes and one 90-minute practical class every week. Our full-time courses run for one year in two separate semesters which last four months each while short courses run for a maximum of four months”.
The Multichoice
Talent Factory academies were launched in October 2018. Every year, the academies
select 60 talented individuals from across 13 countries, including Uganda to
participate in a 12-month academic and practical immersion programme including
both theory and hands-on experience in cinematography, editing, audio
production and storytelling. “Four
Ugandans have already benefited from the MTF” confirmed the MultiChoice
Uganda’s Public Relations and Publicity Executive. “Why should you wait? Join the project” he
told the audience.

The Founder and director of Mediavision Academy indicated that students remain at the center of our daily activities and we can see how they are proud of attending courses at the Academy” while recognizing that “there is still a long way to go when it comes to developing innovative curriculum in order to meet our students’ needs and expectations, and we will get there”.
On partnership and fundraising, Mediavision Academy has developed a five-year strategic plan outlining its plans and sets priorities for how this will be accomplished. Despite some advances, there has been little progress in some key areas, such as proposals for programme delivery as well as strategies and guidelines for fundraising, partnership development, membership engagement, among others.

“On behalf of
Mediavision Academy, I would very much like to thank MultiChoice Uganda for its
interest in our activities. This is an
opportunity that must be seized in order to position our Institution as one of
the most important and prestigious training hubs for youth in Uganda as well as
to help our students assert their talent and carve themselves a place in the
world of show-biz,” Robert Nkambo asserted.
“It was a long-awaited partnership and MultiChoice is with us today” he
concluded.
