“Worst Roommate” in the making! Courtesy of MEDIAVISION ACADEMY student

Monday, 10 October 2022 - Something is happening at the Academy Campus!  Kizito Elisha Winner, 22-year-old, student in his final semester, couldn’t help but put his script-writing techniques in action.

Under the guidance of the Academy Director, Robert Nkambo, the 22-year-old student has picked cast and crew teams comprised of 12 mates including three females to work together on the production of his short film.

By writing the script, Elisha has only one idea in mind: show progress in the skills acquired throughout the whole semester in the various aspects of his training in cinematography, editing, photography, directing, screen and script writing. “The production of a short film project is a requirement for every student aspiring to a Certificate in Film Art Production, and Photography at the end of the course” he said.

This is a short feature film about Derrick, a 20-year-old boy, and his roommate Thomas, who is a year older than him.  Derrick’s belongings and other valuables kept on disappearing,” writes Elisha.  As days went by, Thomas’ character was exposed and the truth just came out.  “He was the thief.  As simple as that,” concluded the script-writer.

What’s next?  The Academy is closely mentoring and providing the necessary assistance to the cast and crew as the shooting unfolds.  Interestingly, the students are marveled at their filmmaking skills as they are combining theory with practice to develop appropriate habitual reactions and correct attitudes during the shooting of a film.

To be continued…
