In the vibrant landscape of Uganda's film industry, a groundbreaking partnership between Mediavision Academy, a renowned film school, and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is reshaping the narrative and empowering young creatives in different regions in the country. This strategic alliance aims to elevate the skills and capabilities of filmmakers through a series of transformative initiatives.

Empowering Filmmakers Through Regional Film Competitions Training Workshops 

UCC urshered in the Regional Film Competitions  to celebrate and showcase exceptional cinematic works from diverse regions across Uganda. 35 filmmakers participating in the 2nd edition of this competition in Northern Uganda were selected from Acholi, Lango, Arua and Karamoja sub regions to gain invaluable insights and expertise through an intensive 4 day training workshop conducted by Mediavision Academy. The training took place from 04th to 8th March 2024 at Moroto Resort in Moroto Town.

Comprehensive Capacity Building Program for Filmmakers


The training curriculum, meticulously crafted by seasoned industry professionals, delved into the intricacies of scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, producing, acting, video editing, and sound recording. Led by esteemed trainers such as Nkambo Robert, Rogers Matelja, and Chris Kihumuro.  participants were immersed in a transformative learning experience aimed at honing their craft and fostering a culture of excellence within the local film community.  In the course of this training 2 short films have been produced by  the trainees. "Thanks UCC and Mediavision Academy for showing us the light. We didn't know that in such a short time, one can make a real film," said Oyel Richard a participant from Moroto.

Through this collaborative endeavor, Mediavision Academy and UCC are not only nurturing individual talents but also catalyzing the overall development of the film industry in the country. By championing local content creation and providing filmmakers with the tools to thrive in a competitive landscape, this partnership is sowing the seeds for a vibrant and sustainable cinematic ecosystem.
