Reaching out to the Muslim Youths

On Friday 28 October 2022, Aloyo Annet and Robert Nkambo, Director of Studies and Director respectively at the Academy, fellowshipped together in a family mood with the Muslim Ugandans at the Makindye Mosque in the Division bearing the same name.  “Do you remember the feeling of doing the most feared thing the first time?” exclaimed Nkambo.  “That’s exactly what I had when told I had to pray at the Makindye Mosque together with the Mediavision Academy team this afternoon.  I had so much to anticipate.”

The atmosphere was as joyful as you would expect at such a religious encounter, which is seen as an example of communion in the field of education and training and, at the same time, strengthen collaboration between religious communities and the Academy.  “The Academy puts youths at the heart of its training agenda,” Nkambo added.

The Friday prayer at the mosque or salatul jumu’ah is and remains an essential part of the practice of Salat and the life of a Muslim believer.  The day holds special significance for both the individual and Islamic community.  Enthusiastic young people are extremely well represented at the mosque and witnessing the Friday prayer.

“There is nothing stopping the Academy when it comes to helping youths thrive in their studies and fulfill their hopes dreams for the future,” said its Director Robert Nkambo at the end of the Friday prayer headed by Sheikh Waiswa Mohamed, who called upon the Academy’s head of delegation to address the congregation about Mediavision Academy and its activities.  “I talked about the location of Mediavision Academy being ideal for community in Makindye, the courses offered, eligible students, admissions and academic calendar. I was overwhelmed by the reaction of the faithful who crowded around me after the prayers for more information.”

MEDIAVISION ACADEMY® is secular, and therefore no religious education is provided.  The students are being trained as ‘professionals’ in Film, Radio, and Television.  “No doubt, multimedia has become a central word in the wonderful new media world,” said one of the students who is in his final year awaiting the graduation to take place sometime in mid-November 2022.

The Academy would like to extend its appreciation to Ms. Shamim Ssenkungu for her support during the religious encounter that was arranged by Kaggwa Swaib in his capacity as marketer.
