Kampala, 5 October 2022 – More and more Kampala National Theatre enthusiasts met again this evening to watch “NALWAWO Feature Film”; a romantic drama feature film produced by Savannah Moon and written by Nana Kagga, who received the best actress award for her starring role in the film.

When I heard that NALWAWO Feature Film was going to screen at the Uganda Cinema Night, I marked the day because I heard impressive previews of an intriguing story of a woman in the film during the Uganda Film Festival. Yesterday I happened to watch it and what I saw confirmed my suspense,” said Robert Nkambo, director of MEDIAVISION ACADEMY®, who watched the film along with his collaborators and students.

Shown on a large screen at the National Theatre this evening, the feature film benefited greatly from the support of the ‘Uganda Cinema Night’, the only local Cinema in Uganda screening Ugandan films every first Wednesday of the month.  MEDIAVISION ACADEMY® is among the sponsors promoting Ugandan film industry.

NALWAWO portrays a socially, financially privileged and middle-aged woman, Nana Kagga – starring in the film as ‘Nanta’ -- is trapped in loveless and childless marriage forcing her to make a choice on whether to stay in an institution that many African women consider the ultimate achievement.  Nana Kagga is a woman I duly respect for her talent in acting and producing film,” added Academy’s Director Robert Nkambo.

Nana Kagga and some other actresses who played key roles in “Nalwawo’ joined the viewers in the auditorium of the Uganda National Theatre this evening.  Day after, day, in silence, we witness the plight of women in our society” declared Nana at the end of the movie.  She called on all film producers and actors to always advocate for women rights in their multiplatform storytelling.
